Hi, I’m Jerry Lane

In my work I strive to capture where light & life, land and sea, and creators & tools meet. I find joy & inspiration in the creative process, the power and beauty of nature, and the constant change of light. Growth & learning are integral to my journey through life.

Neurodivergent soul exploring creativity through photography & film.

No matter where I go in life, I’ll always feel a sense of place, a sense of home, and a connection to my roots when I'm by the ocean.

I spent my childhood summers on the beach, playing soccer, running around, and hours upon hours bodysurfing and jumping around in the waters of the Atlantic in Ballybunion. I am drawn to the sounds, smells & power of the ocean, and I’m inspired by the people who hold a similar connection to it.

In my work my first love is landscape photography, in particular the play between light & water, and where the land & sea meet. In my portraiture work I am drawn to natural light, and capturing those who craft and create with their hands. I'm inspired by the natural earthy tones of the sands, cliffs & rocks, the emerald greens of the Atlantic, and the bright dazzling white crests of waves. I am constantly in awe of the power & beauty of our oceans & believe passionately about their protection & the preservation of the biodiversity within them. It is my fundamental belief that as a landscape photographer I have a duty of care to our natural environment.

I have experienced challenging periods in my life mentally and often found the ocean to be a great source of calm in the more difficult moments. More recently I was diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD, and it has most certainly helped to shape a new lens through which I look through my life so far and moving forward.

As a creative my values are authenticity, capturing the natural moments, and protecting our natural environment. I believe strongly in sharing what I learn, so you’ll find tips on tools I use, as well as learnings I’ve made around my mental health.

This work you’ll find here & elsewhere from me, and these ideas and projects I share are an expression of myself at a moment in time. I am ever-growing, ever-changing, & I strive to nurture these changing seasons as a creative. My recent diagnosis with ADHD sets a new chapter in my life and my work will inevitably mould to that.

I love the written word and write regularly - though not everything makes it to the journal and on Substack.

I’m a musician, and hold a B.A. (Hons, 1st Class) in Music Technology from the Institute of Technology, Tralee (now MTU). I have played the guitar for about 15 years now. Please take time to explore the site & my work. I hope you find value in my work and if you would like to reach out to work together or to say hi please click here.

Thanks for stopping by. Be kind & take care.
