Social Media Curation

Ballybunion Tourism

About The Project

What?

Curating content & creating original content for Facebook, Twitter & Instagram as part of voluntary efforts with Ballybunion Community Forum. The focus was on creating a consistent stream of content that showcased certainties for visitors – namely the key local natural assets of Ballybunion’s beaches & cliffs, with a view to showing the many ways in which people enjoyed these assets. Also created & curated content promoting local businesses & liaising with local authorities via the forum to ensure key health & safety messaging was shared during the lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic in this period. Additional content was created around boosting awareness for key fundraising projects such as the Christmas Lights in the town. Other efforts focused on seeking branding development for the town’s tourism, however, due to funding shortfalls this did not pass initial consultations with designers.

When?

I volunteered & managed these accounts from 14.03.2020 → 04.06.2021. I will return on some level to support in moving this forward in 2022.

Outcomes?

  • Increased Facebook audience by over 2000 likes. Reached over 200,000 new accounts and saw 5x increases in engagement.

  • Increased Instagram following by 2.5x to over 2800 followers & 7x increase in engagement.

  • Increased engagement across all active social channels.

  • National recognition of the town in media due to increased social media presence & increased efforts to align with the main Wild Atlantic Way brand.

  • Project managed the marketing project.
